Matt Brown   //   tederick

My name is Matt Brown. I'm a writer and filmmaker living in Toronto. My short films have screened in Toronto, New York, Berlin, Seoul, Rotterdam, Gimli, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Many of them are available for viewing online. A complete filmography with awards and festival screenings is online at tederick.com/films. I am currently developing my first feature film project.

My podcast, Mamo!, which I co-host with Matthew Price, examines how the movie business and pop cultural appeal intersect in the public imagination. Recorded "Mamo vérité" style in real locations and presented unedited, the podcast was founded in 2005 and will only be felled by our deaths.

I contribute reviews to The Substream.com in both video and text, and occasionally pop up in their other content as well. I blog regularly about movies, Toronto, time, and the colour green.

I make my living as a senior learning specialist for a major telecommunications company, specializing in strategic consulting on social media, LMS implementation and development, and instructional design for adult learners. I have particular interest in management and leadership as applied to small creative groups, and in coaching and developing team members to achieve their career goals.

My interests, in alphabetical order, include: action figures, atheism, #bikeTO, comic books, eggs Benedict, Kurosawa, pirates, Pizzazz of the Misfits, Serenity Rose, sexual rights, social media blah blah blah, Star Wars, Supergirl, and time travel. My favourite film is Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, for weird, irrational, and entirely personal reasons - as should all such reasons be.
