I wrote a book. Now you can pre-order it.
Final update is posted! All regular editions have been sold!
Sorry to layer apocalypse on top of apocalypse, but in the midst of the COVID quarantine I’ve been picking away at getting The Cinema of Survival: Mad Max Fury Road into promotion- and production-readiness. Well, good news: the engines are running!
The Kickstarter is now up and running for The Cinema of Survival: Mad Max Fury Road, closing on May 15. There are about 60 copies available at various price points. The book is in production now and I expect it to be ready for delivery by the end of this year, although given the current “situation,” honestly, who knows.
For those who are hearing about this for the first time: I wrote 12 essays about survival and trauma narratives, mostly centering on George Miller’s 2015 masterpiece Mad Max: Fury Road, but also roping in some other movies, largely for my own amusement. (There’s a Waterworld chapter!!)
I started writing this book on a dock in Muskoka and finished it on a roof in Sardinia, so it’s been a long road (no pun intended) getting from there to here, but I’m thrilled it’s finally on the way. And YOU CAN HAVE ONE!
Please, share this as widely as you like. The intent of the Kickstarter is not to fund the project (I’ve set the target relatively low, at 20 books) but to defray as much of my own cost as possible while giving people the opportunity to pre-order. That said, if we get to the Green Place and all of the copies available get spoken for, I can obviously create more. I can be like the Milk Mothers, raining down water on the people.
Be well, keep one another safe, and consider a $30 paperback. Come on, it’s not like it’s the end of the world or anything.
