To relentlessly catalogue every appearance of
Jasper in the entire run of The Simpsons - The Mission of Jasper
Online
Years of research by Tederick.com's dedicated staff
have gone into creating Jasper Online, the ultimate Jasper resource for
the internet.
As the episode count crosses 400, it becomes
increasingly impossible to effect a valuable study of the entire
Simpsons canon. We have found that it is only by selecting a narrow
slice of the Simpsons experience - for example, attempting to determine
what state Springfield is located in (North Takoma?), or undergoing an ongoing
examination of what environments (hospital, graveyard, prison, forest) have
lain just beyond the Simpsons' back yard - that one can hope to extract any
meaning from the increasingly vast libraries of the lore of the Simpsons
mega-verse.
The slice we have chosen is Jasper.
Jasper Online is the complete, ongoing, evolving
chronicle of the Jasper experience in the complete history of The
Simpsons. Organized by season, the Archive here at Jasper Online
records and annotates every appearance Jasper has made in every episode of
The Simpsons television series, from Season One through the present
day.
The scope of the project is, of course, enormous. As
such, the Archive is currently a work-in-progress. Funding opportunities are
currently available by contacting the JO staff.
Episode annotations appear in three varieties:
- Jasper appearance annotations, where a brief
summary of Jasper's appearance in an episode is given. Beneath the summary,
where applicable, may appear "Dialogue," a bullet list of important Jasper (and
Jasper-related) lines of dialogue from the episode; "Reference Notes," which
explain references within the episode which directly pertain to Jasper's
appearance; and ancillary notes from the editor which may bring greater meaning
to the assembled content.
- No appearance, the standard marking for any
episode in which Jasper does not appear.
- TBD, "to be determined," marking all
episodes which have yet to be examined by Jasper Online. These appear mostly in
the early seasons, cuz let's face it, they mostly just suck, and who wants to
take the time?
With well over half the episodes of The
Simpsons already checked, it is only a matter of time before the archive
becomes complete.

On other web sites. They aren't a factor here. We do
have some images where illustration proves valuable to understanding.
How to I access the Archive?
The seasons of The Simpsons are linked on the
right of each page, under the heading "The Moments." An additional page, "The
Man," is a short summative biography of Jasper, including all known facts
uncovered in the research process. "The Merchandise" looks at the marketing of Jasper over the past twenty years. "The Mission" brings you right back to this
page.
